Record/Vinyl + Digital Album
This is the 3 song collection "Flight of the Bleeper Bird" for flute and Gameboy from my album "The Art of Noise". Only 100 45RPM records have been made and only 50 will be sold via Bandcamp. The rest will be available at my shows and at Matthew Joseph Payne shows.
These super-awesome record jackets are old 8" floppy disks. The 7" record with paper sleeve and plastic sleeve are inside the 8" floppy. (I am not ashamed to say I stole this idea from Urizen!)
Each 7" record will ship with the full-length CD "The Art of Noise."
THE FINE PRINT: I'm selling only 1 record per person. I'm shipping vinyl within the USA only....unless you *really* want one - just let me know - but I will have to charge more for shipping.

about
“I can’t remember if I was in a playful or spiteful mood when I began To Committee: A Self Parody, for flute, cello and piano. So much in an artist’s life is determined by committees, by panels whose judgments matter but ought not to—fights are fixed; the house always wins; moderate notions win over more daring work to satisfy strong personalities; talent can not be the determining factor; everything is unfair. I needed to address the stress, strain, and overwhelming sadness this can cause even the most dedicated among us, ergo this work: part self-deprecation, part raw confessional, one of my “deep psych” pieces. From the opening moments—the “Brooklyn Ekphrasis,” as strange panegyric to “nature”—this work begins life as a mockery of itself (fast and furious, almost too fast an furious) but ends with a plea, a furtive but loud plea. In the middle movement, “How One Becomes Lonely” (the title of an essay by Arnold Schoenberg, who certainly knew about loneliness) the flute and cello pause for a while, allowing the piano to sink the listener into a quiet maelstrom of trembling, a sad texture. When they resume, they sing, but their loveliness, like all things, must perish. The last movement, “Dithyramb,” allows a mocking and somewhat churlish awakening, a dawning, a call to worship at the proper raucous altar for a musician: that of Dionysus, (who probably never had to turn in an application or submit his work to the dull rigors of a competition; for this, we admire him, and hope he heeds my call). Some styles and trends were mocked in the making of this piece, but none so much as the composer himself.
Thanks so much to Meerenai Shim for unabashed support, for derring-do as a musician, and for friendship and continued support. Without her tireless efforts, there would be no To Committee.”

Flutist and jack of many trades, Meerenai Shim is 1/2 of the flute/percussion duo, A/B Duo, and 1/5 of the chiptune/folk/doom/jazz band The Mineral Kingdom. She has released 3 solo albums and founded the indie classical record label Aerocade Music.
This is the debut EP from my band The Mineral Kingdom, led by Matthew Joseph Payne. I'm such a fan of Matt's music and "Polish Cold War Neon" is MY JAM! Hope you love it as much as I do! Meerenai Shim
It's my flute and percussion duo's rock&roll + chiptune infused EP! Music by Matthew Joseph Payne and Ivan Trevino recorded by the A/B Duo (me and Chris Jones on percussion). Meerenai Shim
I love Awkward Terrible. When they combined forces with The Glowing Stars for this album, it was magic. Probably my favorite work by both Awkward Terrible and The Glowing Stars. Meerenai Shim
Gorgeous compositions from California pianist William Susman, with flutes, violin & accordion, to set the heart at ease. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 11, 2021
